Biddle Bros
Live music pub welcoming anyone who wants to play music and have a pint.
Get to know us
Since Biddle Bros on Lower Clapton Road became a pub in 2004, it has been a welcoming space for anyone who wants to play music and have a pint. Over the years, it's hosted bands and musicians from all over the world, including The Pogues' bass player Holly Mullineaux and a young Ed Sheeran, who played one of his first gigs here and was told to keep his day job.
London-born Glaswegian Paul Kennedy is one of the three owners of this much-loved community bar. The building was a builder's merchant from the 1960s and Biddle Bros has kept its original name and much of its character, from the ironwork and gold-leaf signage to the traditional shopfront. Inside, the long reclaimed wooden bar, secondhand church furniture and local artwork make it feel more like someone's living room than a traditional pub.
For more than 20 years, Biddle Bros has kept its doors open to musicians of all kinds, helping keep Hackney's live music scene alive. So if you're a singer, in a band or musician, the stage is open to you. 🎶
