Harris Electrical on Lower Clapton Road has seen it all in the 90 years they've been open. One of the few showrooms selling domestic appliances, home entertainment and kitchen design services.

Owner and director Debbie Harris's great-grandfather Thomas Archibald Harris was once in charge of lighting at Hackney Empire and her grandfather Sidney Charles Harris opened an electrical shop on Clarence Road that helped houses convert from gas to electric in the 1930s. During the 2011 Hackney riots, the shop was gutted and the community rallied around them in the aftermath. Now working alongside her daughter, Megan, who's carrying on the torch for the next generation.
