Outcome of opening hours consultation
In March 2026, the review of proposed reductions in library opening hours was halted, following the confirmation of extra funding from the central government, improving the Council’s financial outlook for the coming year.
This decision preceded the detailed, formal, consideration of the consultation findings.
The feedback received during the consultation remains very valuable however, providing insight into the views and experiences of those who use, or might use, libraries in Hackney. This will be considered in the ongoing development of the library service in Hackney.
