Wikipedia Editing Workshop

  • Hackney Archives London, England, E8 3BQ United Kingdom (map)

Join this event by the Hackney Society to learn how to create content on Wikipedia, a free-content online encyclopedia written and maintained by a community of volunteers.

We will start with an overview of Wikipedia editing, why it is important and help attendees to get started. We are particularly hoping to add more information on some of the women featured in Women from Hackney’s History Volumes 1 and 2, but participants will be able to focus on their areas of interest. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with experience alike. Please bring a laptop with you if possible as you will need a laptop if you would like to do some editing.

Training will last 1 hour, with the rest of the time for practising your new skills, asking questions and making changes to Wikipedia.  We will split into 2 groups so people who attended last time can get straight on with editing/asking questions.
