A carnival procession of about 20 Traditional Shortknee Masquerade Characters, dressed in trousers that end just below the knee and a bodice, made of brightly coloured cotton fabric, and fitted with overlong baggy sleeves.

Celebrate the history of carnival at Hackney Archives

Celebrate 60 years of Notting Hill Carnival with a free display of traditional Shortknee masquerade characters, a traditional carnival character originating from Grenada, which has appeared at many Hackney Carnivals.

Age group: All ages welcome

Ticket price: Free

Access information: Second floor with lift access. Open during Hackney Archives opening hours:
Wednesday- Friday 10am-6pm
First Saturday of the month 10am-1pm | 2pm-5pm
