Rio Film Feminists returns to 1979/80 to shine a light on the Rio’s first feminist film season!

Part of Rio Forever 50th anniversary programme, Rio Film Feminists are screening writer/director Claudia Weill’s seminal 1978 film Girlfriends which first screened at the Rio in association with Hackney and Islington Socialist Feminist Group, Hackney Black Women’s Group and Women in Entertainment in 1979/8. Weill’s work has inspired the likes of Lena Dunham and Greta Gerwig and the Rio are delighted to welcome her to a post screening online Q&A hosted by filmmaker and artist, Lisa Gornick.
