Dyke TV: the early naughties

  • Rio Cinema 107 Kingsland High Street London, England, E8 2PB United Kingdom (map)
A picture of a black lesbian with shaved hair and a microphone and hooped earrings. Standing in front of a Dyke TV banner.

Bold, raw, and highly dykey — Dyke TV shook up cable airwaves from 1993 to 2005.

Co-founded by Ana María Simo, Linda Chapman and Mary Patierno (of the Lesbian Avengers), this DIY powerhouse amplified stories across art, health, activism and sex — always unapologetically queer, always community-first.

Other People’s Films presents a new supercut edited by Antonia Luxem from the early naughties.

Join us for a vibrant, defiant time capsule that still hits hard and hits home. A must-see tribute to our dyke elders — and a rallying cry for the present. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with some of DYKE TVs original team.

With thanks to the Dyke TV organisers, Smith College Special Collections & Mary Patierno.
