Get ready for a revitalised Hackney Central Library! Thanks to central government funding, your beloved library is undergoing a major refurbishment this year. This is the first large capital investment since it opened 22 years ago and will allow it to better serve local residents.

Last year, your valuable feedback shaped our vision for the future of Hackney Central Library. Customers of all ages told us what they liked, disliked and would improve about Hackney Central Library and we hope you can see your ideas and aspirations reflected in the designs. 

The updated library will boast:

  • A convenient bookable meeting room

  • Improved accessibility for all

  • Enhanced spaces for events

Your voice has been crucial in designing a library that truly reflects our community's needs and desires. Come see the final designs on display in the library from the end of June!

When Hackney Central Library closes from September 2025 - January 2026, your closest libraries will be Dalston C.L.R. James Library and Homerton Library.
